A new independent study looked at how Papilocare® vaginal gel affected women with HPV. The results were encouraging and were similar to results reported in earlier studies.

The study was carried out by Professor Murat Gultekin, Chair of the Prevention Committee of the European Society of Gynecologic Oncology. It compared women who used Papilocare® with a control group of women who did not receive treatment. 

How was the study carried out?

The study included:

• 600 women in total 
  • 300 used Papilocare® vaginal gel 
  • 300 were in the control group – no treatment received
• 266 women had cervical lesions, including CIN1, CIN2, or CIN3. 
• The women using Papilocare® were treated for 6 months, after which they were assessed. 

What were the main results?

HPV clearance: after the 6 month treatment period:

• 89% of women who used Papilocare® no longer had detectable HPV. 
• This compared with 45% in the control group. 
• The above rates was generally consistent across different HPV strains. 

Changes in cervical cell tests: among the women who were assessed for cervical cell changes:

• 89% of Papilocare® users had their cervical cell test return to normal, compared with 60% in the control group. 
• When looking at complete normalisation, the figures were 76% compared with 46%. 

These results were consistent with findings from the earlier studies.
