NHS UK advises seeing your GP after a year of trying to get pregnant if you are 35 or under. Women aged 36 or over or who know they have fertility problems should think about seeing their doctor sooner. D-chiro-inositol

Inositols are sugars made in the body and found in foods. They are important to fertility because they make your cells responsive to hormone signals. Myo-inositol is the most common inositol used in supplements. However, recent scientific studies have shown that another inositol called D chiro-inositol plays an important role in fertility.

D-chiro-inositol supports the functioning of hormone system by reducing amount of insulin in circulation and improving sensitivity of insulin receptors. Ageing or being overweight cause reduction in D-chiro inositol level, this in return causes dysfunction of insulin system and dysregulation of hormones. As hormones need to be tightly managed for successful egg development, release, conception and embryo development, disturbed insulin system is a major issue when trying for a baby.

When taken at 300mg per day dose (the estimated amount that healthy women naturally produce), D-chiro-inositol is thought to restore the functioning of hormone system by reducing amount of insulin in circulation and improving sensitivity of insulin receptors.

Antioxidants

Pomanox®, an extract of fresh pomegranate, which is a compound of polyphenols and vitamin C and has a powerful antioxidative effect. Ovosicare® is the only fertility supplement containing Pomanox®. In addition, Ovosicare® contains Vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant.

Bioactive form of folic acid

Quatrefolic: an active form of folic acid. Folic acid is critical for eggs to implant and to prevent miscarriage and has to be converted into an active form known as 5-MTHF in the body. However, more than a third of women in Europe cannot process folic acid into the active form, and therefore folic acid supplements don’t work for them. Quatrefolic, which already comes in the active form (5-MTHF) avoids this problem.

Other natural ingredients

Vitamin D3: supports embryo implantation, improves the chances of pregnancy and live birth, and reduces pregnancy loss. Other vitamins and minerals that support a healthy pregnancy: selenium, zinc, iodine, Vitamin B1, B2, B3, B6, and B12.

The unique inositols formula of D-chiro-inositol at 300mg per day has proven to triple the pregnancy rate and quadruple the number of live births among women with PCOS, compared to the historically used dose of 25mg per day in a study of women with PCOS.
